About Us

The Brian Banks Story

This moment captures the celebration of Brian Banks’ exoneration alongside Director Justin Brooks of the California Innocence Project and myself, representing the Hope Foundation. Through our advocacy and support, we helped facilitate the connection that brought Brian’s case to CIP — a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community, justice, and purpose align. Additionally, our efforts include initiatives like the Holiday Hope Bags and the XONR8 Fundraiser, which further demonstrate our commitment to supporting those in need.

XONR8 Fundraiser

This event brought together community leaders, advocates, and supporters to raise funds for innocent individuals who have been wrongfully convicted, much like the inspiring story of Brian Banks exoneration. Standing alongside the California Western School of Law’s XONR8 Project, we united to honor the fight for justice and support the ongoing work to free those who have been failed by the system. It was a night dedicated to hope, accountability, and restoring lives, highlighted by initiatives like the Holiday Hope Bags that bring joy to those in need.

Amend

I had the honor of attending the Amend African Youth Summit to share financial literacy principles and speak on the power of unity within our communities. Being surrounded by young African leaders, innovators, and change makers reminded me how essential knowledge, collaboration, and empowerment are to building a stronger future. The Hope Foundation proudly supports global youth initiatives like this, including the Brian Banks exoneration efforts, and stands together to uplift, educate, and inspire the next generation through projects like the Holiday Hope Bags and the XONR8 Fundraiser.

Holiday Hope Bags: Spreading Love and Compassion at Sharp Mesa Vista

During the holiday season, Team Hope embarked on a mission to remind individuals that even in their hardest moments, they are never forgotten. As part of our initiative, we created Holiday Hope Bags filled with essential hygiene supplies, comfort items, and heartfelt encouragement for patients in the psychiatric ward at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital. Many of these individuals were spending the holidays without family, support, or visitors — and our goal was to provide them with a new perspective, a spark of joy, and a reminder that people truly care.

This initiative, supported by the XONR8 Fundraiser, wasn’t just about giving items; it was about restoring dignity, lifting spirits, and showing compassion to those who often feel invisible. Our volunteers came together as a community, assembling each Holiday Hope Bag with love and intention, understanding that even a small gesture can significantly impact someone’s emotional well-being. The smiles, gratitude, and relief we witnessed reaffirmed why our work matters.

Team Hope is committed to expanding programs like this, inspired by stories of resilience such as the Brian Banks exoneration, so we can reach even more individuals facing isolation, mental health challenges, and life transitions. With additional funding, we aim to increase the number of care packages, partner with more hospitals, and continue building a network of support for those who need it most. Every contribution helps us spread hope, strengthen our community, and remind people that they are never alone — especially during the holidays.

Success Story

The Hope Team recently provided transitional housing for an individual released from custody who was facing immediate housing insecurity, similar to the challenges faced by others like Brian Banks after his exoneration. We stepped in to supply essential clothing and personal items, including our Holiday Hope Bags, and we connected him with our partner organizations for job placement and long-term housing support through initiatives like the XONR8 Fundraiser. Our goal is to ensure that every person we assist has a stable foundation and a real opportunity to rebuild their life with dignity.
